OpenStudy (shaniehh):

Can some explain step by step how to factor 6x^2-5x-6=0

OpenStudy (zkoqmosii):

There's a few ways to do this, does your teacher want it done a certain way?

OpenStudy (shaniehh):

any way is fine

OpenStudy (zkoqmosii):

Oh, that's what you need to do. I'd recommend using the quadratic formula to factor it. Do you know what that is?

OpenStudy (shaniehh):

yea i remember that

OpenStudy (zkoqmosii):

Okay, use that to find the two x intercepts. Plug in 0 for x to find y (which will be -6), then use: |dw:1446852197171:dw| to find the vertex. Using the vertex, the x is the axis of symmetry. Use the quadratic formula obviously for the quadratic formula part. I can't really help with completing the square, that's always been a fuzzy zone for me.

OpenStudy (zkoqmosii):

-b/2a us the x for the vertex, you then need to plug that back in for x to find the y.

OpenStudy (shaniehh):

I understand thats all i needed help with thank you

OpenStudy (zkoqmosii):

Okay great!
