OpenStudy (cookiemonster18):

What is the graph of the function rule? y=5x-2

OpenStudy (cookiemonster18):

OpenStudy (seascorpion1):

You should plot 2 points on the function and draw the line that goes through both of them, the line will be the graph of your function rule.

OpenStudy (seascorpion1):

do you mean abs(x), because something is wrong.

OpenStudy (cookiemonster18):

sorry @seascorpion1 I ment y=l5xl-2

OpenStudy (misty1212):

i bet it is \(y=5|x|-2\) right?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

when in doubt, Charlie out

OpenStudy (welshfella):

lol

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Y = |5x| is obtained by reflecting y = 5x in the x-axis. The -2 moves the whole graph of 5|x| down 2 units.

OpenStudy (cookiemonster18):

Yes @misty1212 your right. but I don't get it @welshfella you say the -2 moves he whole graph of 5 lxl down 2 unites but Im not sure rathe the answer is A (first graph) or B (second graph). there both are facing down but im thinking its probably A. am I correct? and if not can you please help me some more,i don't understand what the graphs are showing me because theres no dots on them
