Algebra 10 Online
OpenStudy (peace420):

is anyone in algebra that can help me with polynomials?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you need help with

OpenStudy (peace420):

( 2x^2 + 3x + -4) + (x^2 - x - 2)

Mehek (mehek14):

add like terms

OpenStudy (peace420):

well yeah.. but i dont know how to start.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

start by getting rid of the parenthesis and distribute the negative signs

Mehek (mehek14):

first find the like terms \(2x^2\) and \(x^2\) are like terms because they both have \(x^2\)

Mehek (mehek14):

and then there is 3x which term is like that?

OpenStudy (peace420):

x?

Mehek (mehek14):

-x so 3x and -x are like terms how about -4 ?

OpenStudy (peace420):

-2

Mehek (mehek14):

so add like terms \(2x^2+x^2\\3x-x=\\-4-2=\)

OpenStudy (peace420):

okay i got it now how do i put it together?

Mehek (mehek14):

what did you get?

OpenStudy (peace420):

3x^2, 4x, -2

Mehek (mehek14):

ok so \(3x^2,2x,-2\) put it together \(3x^2+2x-2\)

OpenStudy (peace420):

thank you

Mehek (mehek14):

yw :)
