OpenStudy (chris215):

Which one of the following does not find the value of f ′(2) for f(x) = x^2 + 3x + 1?

OpenStudy (bibby):

what is f'(x)?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@chris215 What did you get for f'(x)?

OpenStudy (chris215):

OpenStudy (phi):

you want f(x+h) - f(x) the first choice only subtracts part of f(x) i.e. it does not have parens in the correct place 2nd choice shows how it should look.

OpenStudy (phi):

Although the 3rd line is not standard, I believe it also gives the correct value. I would use choice B and if it it want more than 1 , both B and C
