First way math is incorporated into daily life is in cooking. "You might come across a cookie recipe that makes 2 dozen cookies, for example. What if you only want 1 dozen cookies? What if you want 4 dozen cookies? Understanding how to increase or decrease the yield without spoiling the ratio of the ingredients is a valuable skill for any cook." So as you see, you need to know how to multiply and divide to make more or less than the recipe says. Math is incorporated into life by ways that even give you what you eat.

Then, we also have home decorating. "Most home decorators need to work within a budget. But in order to figure out what you'll spend, you have to know what you need. How will you know how many rolls of wall paper to buy if you don't calculate the space you have to cover? Understanding some basic geometry can help you stick to your budget." You need to know geometry to keep a budget in fun things like home decorating. It even takes math to pretty up a home.

Finally, we have banking. "Interest is expressed as a rate such as 3% or 18%. The dollar amount of the interest you earn on a savings account is figured by multiplying the money you deposit (called the principal) by the rate of the interest." With banking you need to know multiplication to figure out the amount you earned on a savings account. Math will help you with interest you earn or lose.

Your second paragraph does feel a little strange though. I mean, your main point is that budgets need math right? Why only mention decorating? What's there is good, I just think you should put something in that establishes you're talking about a broad topic (budgets), but then narrow it down into a specific example. (Decorating) I just think this part could use some revising.
