OpenStudy (rissaunnie):

i need three graphed points -4y=-x-18

OpenStudy (danjs):

Do you know if given a point (x,y) how to graph that?

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

yes do u know (x,y) ?

OpenStudy (rissaunnie):

no

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Why don't you just pick 3 x-values and see what y-values correspond?

OpenStudy (danjs):

On the coordinate plane, the x value is the left/right axis usually, and the y value is the up/down then... so given a point (x,y) you move x units on the left/right, then from there move y units up/down...

The equation they give restricts the values for x and y. In this case it is a line. You can clean the equation up into a familiar form with algebra, or simply pick easy values for x, and figure out what the corresponding y value will have to be. Easy ones are where the graph crosses the axis (x=0 or y=0) Let x=0, figure y, the point will be (0,y) Let y=0, figure x, the point will be (x , 0) For a third, maybe let one of the variables be 1, and figure the other...
