OpenStudy (dessyj1):

Can too much eutrophication in an aquatic ecosystem be detrimental and deleterious to the very algae it gives rise to?

OpenStudy (thefurball):

Yes. Eutrophication makes it so that lots and lots of algae grow. If there's too much algae, there won't be enough food for the algae so much of it will die.

OpenStudy (dessyj1):

algae can use sunlight for food right? What else do they eat while they are on the surface of the water?

OpenStudy (thefurball):

nutrients is probably a better term
