OpenStudy (tswift96):

I am planning on doing covers of people as soft as Saywecanfly, Owl City, etc. To something louder like All Time low, Fall Out Boy or Twenty One Pilots to something heavy like Memphis May Fire, Pierce The Veil, Black Veil Brides and so forth. Any suggestions on what I should cover from anybody who likes that kind of music?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do the strays -by sleeping with sirens if not do knifes and oen or in the end for bvb

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

I suggest that you not spend so much time on covers and spend more time on original music.

OpenStudy (graciebugg):

@tanner23456 Not everyone can write there own music. If they want to do covers it's they're music career.... Some of the biggest people in music started as a cover band.... And @tswift96 I love most of those bands. I'm just gonna throw this out there because of SWCF, Try some Social Repose.

OpenStudy (tswift96):

To respond to several of you I already have my own music out one of you already knows that. That's why you could be telling me to focus on that. The thing is dubstep and dance music like that in general I just don't really feel it a lot. Social Repose used to make it sound amazing combining both music like SWS, PTV etc with dance music I just don't think I can do that. That's why I think I want to do covers for a while and try to find the style that suits me most. I will still release music like that since several people seem to enjoy my twist on it but I won't focus on it as much.

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

I didn't say don't do covers at all. I think covers are really fun and it's a good way to start out, but if you have along list of covers you want to do, it could be keeping you from expanding your musical abilities and attaining the potential your capable of.

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

Oh wait. This is dubstep? Never mind. If it's dubstep, you might as well do covers.

OpenStudy (tswift96):

I get the points you're making I just still need to find that style that's me. And I think doing covers could potentially help me with that. If I get positive feedback on this song then ok maybe this is the style of music I should go with instead of the style that I did that I got negative feedback on.

OpenStudy (graciebugg):

I feel the same way, by playing around with singing I've found that I do Country/alt really well. Follow your heart and Be yourself with covers, Add edge to it if you want.

OpenStudy (graciebugg):

For example <This is a country thing> Chris Stapleton took an old song and made it his own by adding a new sound to it. If you're a punk rocker make it punk rockish, If you're a soul singer make it soulful and so on. It all depends on who you are.
