factoring question 16n(^2) -9 so far I've pulled out a 3 3(6n(^2) - 3) I'm not sure where to go from here...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you think 3 x 6 is 16?

OpenStudy (danjs):

what does it look like \[16n^2-9\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh god my bad

OpenStudy (danjs):

or \[(16n)^2-9\] maybe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4n-3)(4n-3) ?

OpenStudy (danjs):

have you seen this before \[a^2*x^2-b^2 = (ax-b)*(ax+b)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*(4n+3)

OpenStudy (danjs):

right, you can check by distributing back and see if you return to the original prob

OpenStudy (danjs):

you have 4^2*n^2 - 3^2 apply that property above..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! ( :

OpenStudy (danjs):

welcome
