Alright so like every other problem...I try to solve it myself so i did but I cant find the answer :(
Solve for X:
1/2x +1/4 =2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay let me try. Give me a moment.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Alright lets work through this.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
First we want to get all the numbers that do not have a variable on one side...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
first subtract 1/4 from both sides

A)x=3
B)x=11
C)x=1/2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yup what he said.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
then multiply both sides by the reciprical of 1/2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So when you do that you would get 1/2x = 1.75
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Then you want do divide 1/2 from both sides.

i would turn the fractions into decimals first
its makes it easier but you can choose what you like
OpenStudy (anonymous):
If I subtract it I get 1/2 x right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
that also works
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
1/2 in decimal form would be .50

OpenStudy (anonymous):
so you would have .50x+.25=2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
and 1/4 would be .25
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Xo the answer is 7/2 or 3.5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So x = 3.5

Great job!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3.5 isnt a choice so should I just go with x=3 ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol XD..yep decimals are easier
OpenStudy (anonymous):
What?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
then you just change it back again

OpenStudy (anonymous):
either way u get 3.5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I do not know... see if you have to round it BUT I am positive that the answer is 3.5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3 1/2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hope that helps! Have a great day!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay :) Yeah I HAVE to round it bc 3.5 isnt a choice but thank you!
