OpenStudy (nathalie0918):

b. pemdas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pemdas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.....nice explanation

OpenStudy (gabebae):

PEMDAS stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition , and Subtraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (gabebae):

Yup, you work from left to right

please excuse my dear aunt sally

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you have an expression of numbers only, like this 5 + 2*3 then you use PEMDAS if you want to solve something like 2x + 5 = 10 then you work in reverse and follow SADMEP to isolate x and get it on its own side

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hopefully you can see how SADMEP is simply the reverse of PEMDAS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please excuse my dear aunt sally

OpenStudy (gabebae):

FOIL is used to multiply two binomials together First Inside Outside Last

OpenStudy (tapha):

OpenStudy (tapha):
