I'm confused. 4y ^3 = 108 A. 3 B. -3 C. 2 D. 7

To solve for y first you want to divide both sides by 4. 108/4 = 27. Now you have y^3 = 27. You could use your calculator to find (27)^1/3, or you could ask yourself, which number do I multiply by itself 3 times to get 27. Or plug in each of the possible answers and see which one works.
