what answer is a solution to the equation |k+6|=3 A. {-3,9} B. {-3,3} C. {-9,-3} D. k>_-9 and k<_-3

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

look: |k+6|=3 so here is how to solve this: anything in absolute value is positive: k+6=3 => k=-3 -k-6=3 => k=-9 now lets check: |-3+6|=3 => 3=3 correct! |-9+6|=3 => 3=3 correct! thus the roots are -3 and -9
