Please help me by checking my work! I will medal and fan!
1. I think it's B.. @Nay_Af
I'm sorry but we're not allowed to help on tests/quizzes/exams/assignments here :/ that would be considered cheating :(
Um.. it's not a test, it's like practice problems for studying.. I want to know if I worked the problems out properly and get them correct. @pooja195
Its labeled quiz questions.
at most 130 means that it can include that number (I think)
Option C seems correct (less than or equal to 130)
I know! I just have it labeled that. Gosh, I'm sorry. I thought open study was for helping, and understanding. It's not like I'm telling people to give me answers. damn chiil @pooja195
You would have your answer if you knew what "at most" meant since theres only one option that matches that :) And im sorry for being rude. I thought it was a quiz question since it was labeled that way.
@Nay_Af would you mind also explaining how you got that answer so that Ms-Brains can understand for future similar questions?
You guys are just crowding up my question. @pooja195 and @jigglypuff314 That wasn't cool. Thanks for trying to help @Nay_Af
I'm not cool? ;-; how come? I was pointing out "at most 130 means that it can include that number" for you
Perimeter = Sum of the sides. Length = 4 times Width L = 4 W Perimeter = L + W + L + W P = 2W + 2 L P = 2W + 2 (4W) Since, it is said that the perimeter is at most 130, that means that its maximum value can be 130, and that it can be less than 130 as well. That's why, option C is the correct option that gives equal to or less than 130.
I'm sorry, I've just been trying to figure this out since last night, and it's making me frustrated. I'm sure you're a pretty cool person. :) I didn't mean to include you in that. @jigglypuff314
much better @Nay_Af ! well done :)
Can you help with this one? I think it is C, or A I'm a little lost..
@Nay_Af
Sure. Give me a minute.
Length = 3 times Width L = 3W Perimeter is maximum 112 cm. P = Sum of the sides. P = L + W + L + W P = 2W + 2L Using L = 3W, it becomes, P = 2W + 2(3W) P = 2W + 6W P = 8W As it is already given that maximum perimeter is 112 cm. So, P = 8W = 112 cm 8W = 112 W = 112/8 W = 14 cm (that should be the maximum value of width)
Oh! Okay, I understand. I get where I went wrong. I think this next one is C?
@Nay_Af Can you confirm?
Sure. Please wait again till I solve it on paper.
Reiko started a business. Her expenditures: - $6500 to obtain merhandise - $550 per week for other expenses. It means, for 2 weeks, it will be $550 (2). For 3 weeks, it will be $550 (3) and so on. So, take it as $550 W where W = number of weeks. So, total expenditure= $6500 + $550W Now, see her earnings: She earns $900 per week. So, for W number of weeks, her earning should be $900W Question asks for the minumum number of weeks to make a profit. Remember: To make profit, earnings should be greater than expenditures. So, earnings > expenditures $900W > $6500 + $550W
It's B?
Yes, it's B according to my calculations.
Okay last one I need help on. :) @Nay_Af I'm thinking C again
Sure. Wait a while.
Okay.
Josephine started a business. Her expenditures: - $4500 to obtain merchandise - $200 per week for other expenses. For 2 weeks, it will be $200 (2). For 3 weeks, it will be $200 (3) and so on. So, take it as $200W where W = number of weeks. So, total expenditure= $4500 + $200W Now, see her earnings: She earns $550 per week. So, for W number of weeks, her earning should be $550W Question asks for the minimum number of weeks to make a profit. Again: to make profit, earnings should be greater than expenditures. So, earnings > expenditures 550W > 4500 + 200W 550W - 200W > 4500 350W > 4500 W > 4500/350 W > 12.85 So, more than 12.85 weeks are required. Given options are: 14, 12, 13, 15. 12 is wrong. So, drop this option. Since, question asked for minimum number of weeks, we will choose the minimum number from the remaining options. So, 13 seems the correct answer.
Yay! I' at least got one correct. cx Thanks for the help!
Awesome :) You're welcome and best of luck.
You got most of them correct! now I'm ready to begin the quiz! This one was incorrect though...
I thought' i'd let you know. cx Bye thanks!
Let Sue's age = x Jenny's age = y y = 2x + 8 Also, x + y < 32 So, x + 2x + 8 < 32 3x + 8 < 32 3x < 24 x< 8 Since Sue's age is coming less than 8 after solving the inequality. The answer should be 7.
