PLEASE HELP!!! WILL MEDAL!!!!!! Oxbows form in rivers because the water erodes soil from the outside of a curve and deposits material at the inside. The river in the picture has an oxbow bend. If the river is left alone, how might the river appear 50 years from now? A.The river will most likely look exactly the same. B. The river will most likely dry up. C. Erosion by the river will make the oxbow straighten out. D. The oxbow may become isolated and become a lake.

With further time, the neck of the oxbox lake will be cut due to deposition river on the sides and so water will be forced to laterally erode the soil. Consequently, it will leave behind an isolated lake. The answer would be D.
