OpenStudy (andrewv):

Imagine an enormous forest of trees, all of which were born at the same time. As you stand in the middle of the forest, you see a few nearby trees, some more distant trees, and in the gaps between the trunk, some very distant trees. Light travels at a speed of 3x10 to the 8th power m/s. How long does it take light to reach you from a tree 3 meters away? I would really appreciate an explanation as well to learn!

This is physics. Use the formula of velocity, which is \[v=\frac{ s }{ t }\] You need time, so make t the subject of the formula\[t=\frac{ s }{ v }=\frac{ 3 }{ 3*10^8 }=10^-8seconds\]
