OpenStudy (gigi1103):

Dora can run 3/5 mi in 3/20 h. How far can she run in 1 h?

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

A coffee pot makes 6 cups of coffee in 1/1/2 min. How many cups of coffee can the coffee pot make in 1 min?

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

It takes 1/8 tsp of baking soda to make 4 dozen cookies. How many teaspoons of baking soda does it take to make 1 dozen cookies?

OpenStudy (parker.goodbar):

first one is 11.11Mi

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

1.Dora runs 3/5 m in 3/20 hr so in 1 hr she runs (3/5)/(3/20) miles = (3/5)*(20/3) = 4 miles 2.90seconds (which is 1 1/2 mins) divided by 6 equals to 15 seconds. 15 seconds is how long each cup takes to make. So, in one minute, it would make 4 cups (60 seconds divided by 15 seconds = 4) 3. 1/32

OpenStudy (parker.goodbar):

2. IS 4

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

2 more guys

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

Gigi make sure u understand the problem and how to set it up tho !

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

@johnweldon1993

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

ok ;)

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

A bulldozer moves 640 lb of dirt in4/5 h. Complete the unit rate.

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

do i multiply?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Looks like you got this @JazzyLuvsU123 :)

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

Thanks @johnweldon1993 :]

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

(640 lbs)/(4/5 hrs) = 640*5/4 lbs/hr = 3200/4 lbs/hr = 800 lbs/hr

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

so multiply then divide?

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

I think it would be x=(1)*(640)/(4/5)=640/4*5=160*5=800 So yes I believe so

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

A CD makes 58/1/2revolutions in 3/4 min. Complete the unit rate. revolutions/min

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

ok so 58/1/2 x 3/4

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

? right?

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

Unit rate, from the word "rate" you have to find number of revolutions per 1 minute so 58 1/2 revolutions divide by 3/4 min.

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

oh then do i multiply?or no

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

yes change 58 1/2 to improper fraction first then divide it by 3/4 remember that dividing a fraction by fraction is the same as getting the reciprocal of one fraction and instead of diving, you have to multiply them

OpenStudy (gigi1103):

thanks i get it your the best!!

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

Your Welcome !!! sometimes these word problems get a little tricky ;p

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

imma go ! i have a few math problems of my own to complete ! Nice meeting you !!
