Is the sentence simple, compound, or complex? When the sun sets this evening, I will look for fireflies in the yard. A. compound B. simple C. complex

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

I would go with A, because it has multiple subjects and predicates.

Is the sentence simple, compound, or complex? Eventually, Eric fell asleep; he woke up much later. A. simple B. complex C. compound

OpenStudy (rowbe98):

The first answer would actually be a complex sentence. Compound sentences are two independent phrases. "When the sun sets this evening" could not stand alone as a sentence, it is a dependent phrase :)

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

I believe this one is a compound because if it were complex it would have to have a dependent and independent clause. And yes @rowbe98 you're correct because I didn't read it right, lol. Thank you <3

OpenStudy (rowbe98):

Yep, agreed on this one! No problem :)

thx guys
