Explain what causes a glacier to grow or recede.

On of the ways that this can happen is when water first enters on cracks or joints of a rock or soil in a periglacial area. Next, during freezing, water freezes, forming a layer called regolith that from alternative thawing and freezing it increases in size and volume until what is considered as a glacier forms.
