Combine like terms. 8 + 6x – 11x + 12 A. 20 – 17x B. 14x + 1x C. 20 + 5x D. 20 – 5x @Liv1234

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Okay, so first off I just want to know what you think the answer is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So, the answer is D. The reason for this is because if you put 8+12 you get 20 and then you subtract 6 from 11 and get -5x. So, 20-5x.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

\[20-5x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so instead of adding its subtracting

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Correct!

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Because it is 6x-11x so you subtract and get -5x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i am going to tag u in another one

OpenStudy (liv1234):

It wouldn't be adding because the 5 is negative.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Can you give me a medal for this one?

OpenStudy (liv1234):
