19=h/3-8
add 8 to both sides
Yes... add 8 to both sides.
Then multiply each side by 3.
I don't Understand
Can you explain it more
Have you learnt about the order of operations? where multiplication and division must come before addition and subtraction (we called it BODMAS when I was in school) Because of this, you must divide h by 3 first, but we cant really because we have no idea what h is yet, but because this must happen first, the h and the 3 almost become linked, so we have to work with the other parts first so lets look at -8 whatever h divided by 3 is, less 8 is 19 so 19 must be 19+8, right? so if 19+8 (27) is h divided by 3, then 27 times 3 must be h, right? also think about how it might be different if the question were 19 = h/(3-8) In this case, the brackets force you to do the (3-8) first, or to keep them linked Because we can do this, the equation just becomes 19 = h/5 then 19 is equal to h divided by 5, so h must be 19x5
Make since?
Yes
Thank You
