Add -4 to both sides. −|3x+1|+4+−4<2+−4 −|3x+1|<−2 Divide both sides by -1 (to get rid of that neg sign −|3x+1|/-1<−2/-1 |3x+1|>2 An absolute value can have a neg and pos solution
