what is osmosis?

OpenStudy (sofia448119):

Osmosis is a process where a fluid passes through a semipermeable membrane, it moves from an area in which a there is little solute to an area with a lot of solute. The end result if no external factors disrupt it is for both sides of the barrier to have the same amount of fluid. If that happens then it creates a state known as isotonic.

OpenStudy (dyna-marie99):

Osmosis is when water moves from an area where its high concentration to an area where its low concentration.
