OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

A strong weightless rope has a mass m hanging from the middle of it. The tension force on each rope is 25 N, and the rope droops at an angle of = 20.0°. How much mass is hanging from the rope? 1.7 kg 0.9 kg 4.8 kg 17 kg 8.7 kg

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

We might need to view this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBaCUYBdFs8

Directrix (directrix):

Let's think.

Directrix (directrix):

8.7 kg 17 kg 4.8 kg 0.9 kg 1.7 kg

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

ok so the first thing I did was multiply

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

25sin(20°)

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

which gave me 8.55

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

and then multiplied that by 2

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

and it gave me 17 but I have to divide by 10 because is weight and I got 1.7

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

correct?

Directrix (directrix):

I think so.

Directrix (directrix):

I am going to try to watch that YouTube discussion. After about 20 seconds, my mind wanders on those explanations.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

lol alright :)

Directrix (directrix):

Okay. Hoping for the best.
