I'm not sure. I suppose having more variety in the structure of sentences makes it more interesting and maybe it looks better. :) Besides, if all the sentences sound the same, it may get repetitive after a while and not as interesting.

Why is theme often confused with the plot of fiction?

Hmm..I'm not sure. Maybe because theme is sort of like main idea but a little different (more like what the story is trying to say overall) and people just get plot (what happens) mixed up. So maybe they think of theme being like main idea and main idea as being similar to the climax of plot. But really, I don't know. Sorry!
