Help! Will fan and medal! Need in 10 minutes! How did the cotton gin transform the southern economy? A. Increased demand for cotton led to increased demand for slaves B. Decreased demand for cotton led to decreased demand for slaves C. Increased demand for cotton led to decreased demand for slaves D. Decreased demand for cotton led to increased demand for slaves

OpenStudy (xkshx):

I know it was a decreased demand for slaves because the machine could produce way more clean cotton

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Alexx16 Can you explain?

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

It actually increased the demand for slaves. The slaves were used in growing cotton. The gin made it possible to process more cotton so they increased the amount they grew.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@wwhitlock So would it be A. because of the increased demand for gin so they needed more people to work it, which increased demand for slaves?
