The coordinates below represent two linear equations. How many solutions does this system of equations have? Line 1 x y –3 5 0 4 Line 2 x y 0 4 6 2 A. 0 B. exactly 1 C. exactly 2 D. infinitely many

OpenStudy (danjs):

2 lines have unique solution if they intersect, that point(x,y) is on both lines

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its a or d

OpenStudy (danjs):

if they are parallel , then no solutions , never intersect if they are just the same line (one equation would just be some constant multiple of the other equatoion , then infinite solutions

OpenStudy (danjs):

2 lines can not intersect at 2 places

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean im confused

OpenStudy (danjs):

you can make a linear equation for each, they give you 2 points for each one

OpenStudy (danjs):

a set of 2 linear equations, can not have two solutions, how can you draw 2 straight lines that intersect twice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so b

OpenStudy (danjs):

looking a the given charts, both lines contain the point (0,4), and both look like they have the same slope if both have same slope and a same point, they are the same line infinit solutions

OpenStudy (danjs):

y=(-2/3)*x + 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so d okay thank you
