OpenStudy (stuck-help):

@malcolmmcswain how do i find scale factor of a triangle

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Ok, this is super easy.

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

All you have to do is take one of the lengths of the sides.

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

And compare it before/after the translation using the ratio we used before.

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

So, for side A: A'/A

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

ok ill try and then ill see if i need more help

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Ok then!

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

ok this is what im working im doing the red liine as one of my sides so 3 and 9 are my lengths

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

|dw:1447451484632:dw|

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Ok, what are the lengths of the red lines?

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

the small one is 3 and the big one is 9 and the preimage is the bigger on and the image is the smaller one so our scale factor would be less than one again

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

3/9

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

which simplifies to 1/3

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

and then that simplfies down to 1/3

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Yup! :)

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

thank you

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Of course! :D
