Linear Algebra 14 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Decide whether the pair of lines is parallel, perpendicular, or neither. 5x+2y=7 5x+2y=6

imqwerty (imqwerty):

the slope of parallel lines is the same and the product of slopes of perpendicular lines is -1 :) try doing it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I solve this?

OpenStudy (danjs):

both left sides are the same, with a different right parallel

imqwerty (imqwerty):

do u know how to find out slope?

OpenStudy (danjs):

if the coefficients on the x and y term are some multiple from one line to the other, parallel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=mx+b? is slope intercept form

imqwerty (imqwerty):

yes the m is the value of slope here try to convert the equations to this form to find out the slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for example for 5x=2y=7 putting it into slope intercept form would be: 2y=5x+b?

pooja195 (pooja195):

Nope y=mx+b is slope intercept form

imqwerty (imqwerty):

u have to isolate y so u shuld divide by 2 all over :)

pooja195 (pooja195):

Where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

OpenStudy (danjs):

yes, compare slopes or direction vectors
