Choose the system of equations with the graphical solution shown below A. x + y = -2 x + 4y = 12 B. x - y = 2 x + 4y = 12 C. x + y = -2 x - 4y = -12 D. x - y = 2 x - 4y = -12

The point of intersection of these two lines above appears to be (-4, 2). I'm thinking that the answer is the option that has a common solution which is the same point.

Directrix (directrix):

You could solve the systems algebraically or you could graph them. Or, you could substitute x = -4 and y = 2 in each system to see it those coordinates satisfy both equations in each system.

Directrix (directrix):

I'll test system A to help you get started. x = -4, y =2 x + y = -2 -4 + 2 = -2 Yes x + 4y = 12 -4 + 4*(2) = 12 -4 + 8 = 12 No Option A is not the correct answer.

I already figured this one out(:

Directrix (directrix):

What did you get for the answer?
