Which variable has a binomial distribution? When tiles are drawn, without replacement, from a bag of numbered tiles, X is the number of times it takes to get an even number. When tiles are drawn, without replacement, from a bag of numbered tiles, X is the number of even numbers in 4 draws. When tiles are drawn, with replacement, from a bag of numbered tiles, X is the number of times it takes to get an even number. When tiles are drawn, with replacement, from a bag of numbered tiles, X is the number of even numbers in 4 draws

@Directrix

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

is it D?

Directrix (directrix):

The binomial distribution describes the behavior of a count variable X if the following conditions apply: 1: The number of observations n is fixed. 2: Each observation is independent. 3: Each observation represents one of two outcomes ("success" or "failure"). 4: The probability of "success" p is the same for each outcome.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

the ones without replacement are wrong

Directrix (directrix):

From Text-A-Friend @beezinthetrap Any sampling "without replacement" is NOT Binomial. Out of the last two "with replacement", only the last one is Binomial. The other one is Geometric.

Directrix (directrix):

Alrighty, then.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

yup thats exactly what I believe so it should be the last one then :)

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

thank you for your help :) I might have one more question just give me a bit to write it and recheck my work :)

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

Heights of certain plants at a nursery are normally distributed with a mean of 45.3 centimeters and a standard deviation of 6.6 centimeters. If their z-scores are greater than 1.75, the plants are displayed in the main lobby. To the nearest centimeter, what is the minimum required height for this type of plant to be displayed in the main lobby?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

is it 57?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

1.75 = (h - 45.3)/6.6 h > 56.85 cm

Directrix (directrix):

I did not see anything about rounding to an integer.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

true but thats what I did I just rounded it

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

thank you for your help :)

Directrix (directrix):

Okay, then.

Directrix (directrix):

You're welcome. See you soon back here on OS.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

alright :)
