OpenStudy (dayakar):

where is question

OpenStudy (richgall____):

A candle burns down at the rate of 0.5 inches per hour. The original height of the candle was 8 inches. Part A: Write a list of 6 ordered pairs to show the height of the candle in inches (y) as a function of time in hours (x) from the first hour after it started burning. For example, the point (0, 8) would represent a height of 8 inches after 0 hours. Explain how you obtained the ordered pairs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, how would u solve it?

OpenStudy (richgall____):

I'm just getting into online school so i really don't fully understand most of this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, it say that the candle burn 0,5 per hour right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how much it burn after 2 hour

OpenStudy (richgall____):

(0,10) ??

OpenStudy (richgall____):

i mean 0.10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, we not there yet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it say 0.5 per hour, so 2 hour will be 1 right?

OpenStudy (richgall____):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 3 hour will be?

OpenStudy (richgall____):

1.50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so lets change the "hour" with x, and u will get 0.5x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=8-0.5x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= the candle remain x= hour

OpenStudy (richgall____):

ok

OpenStudy (richgall____):

so for the 3rd hour i would do 8-0.5 x 3

OpenStudy (richgall____):

someone plz help me he/she is offline
