I live in Florida and we just stay indoors during thunderstorms. Moving to open areas doesn't make sense, seeing as how the lightning poses a dangerous threat to safety. Replacing wooden doors with glass doors doesn't make sense either. If the winds are high enough, an object could be thrown through the glass. We don't have wells in our backyards.
