a machine depreciation by 10%. it was bought before 3 yrs and the current value is rs 8748 . calculate its purchase price

Directrix (directrix):

Let x be the purchase price 3 years ago. Over the three year span, the machine lost 10% per year of it purchase price. That means that the machine kept 90% of its value the previous year. 8748 = x * (.90)^3 You can crank that out by hand and solve for x. Or, you can use an online algebra calculator. If you use it, scroll down and look for solution. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=8748%3D+x*+%28.9%29%5E3 @sheru
