I don't understand simple and compound
Mehek (mehek14):
simple : one independent clause
compound : more than one independent clause
Mehek (mehek14):
so to tell if your sentence is simple or compound, you would take away `and` and then see if
the lamp fell over is a complete sentence
and
scared the cat is a complete sentence
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so its compound
?????
Mehek (mehek14):
`is the lamp fell over` a complete sentence?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
no so its a simple compound
Mehek (mehek14):
the sentence would be simple because `scared the cat away` is not a complete sentence
