It is A. With the equation (-2)+(-2)+(-2)+(-2) you have four negative 2's in there. Thus, you can either sum the four negative 2's or you can multiply negative 2 by 4, which would be 4(-2). The answer then, since you are multiplying a negative by a positive, will be a negative number: -8. If you multiply a positive and a negative, you get a negative. If you multiply a negative by a negative or a positive by a positive, then you get a positive.
