Solved!

OpenStudy (welshfella):

this one will factor to (2x - 5)(2x - 1)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so we have 2x - 5 = 0 or 2x - 1 = 0 2x = 5 or 2x = 1 solution set is {5/2 , 1/2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks i've been struggling on questions like these for a minute any idea part c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also if you have any tips that'll help too cause i look at my books and lessons and like i can never really understand it

OpenStudy (welshfella):

with this one there are no real factors so you can use the quadratic formula x = [-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)] / 2a where a,b and c are the coefficients in the equation ax^2 + bx + c = 0

OpenStudy (welshfella):

here a = 2 , b = -10 and c = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks again and so we get 5 +/- sqroot 19 /2?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that is the answer or do i have to get x?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

oh hold on x = [-(-10) +/- sqrt (100 - 4*2*3)] / 4

OpenStudy (welshfella):

lol - I'm getting confused here!!! x = 10 + 2 sqrt19 ------------ 4 = { 5/2 + sqrt19 / 2 , 5/2 - sqrt19/2}

OpenStudy (welshfella):

oh second line should be +/-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so its like i said right ? haha! so then is that my answer or is there one more step?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

no that is the answer there are 2 roots.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thank you so much! you made it so much easier!

OpenStudy (welshfella):
