What happens to raisins or other dried fruits in breakfast cereals when you pour milk over them? Why?

Salt dries out slugs.

And I would assume that when you pour milk onto the raisins, they absorb some of the milk.

salt doesn't necessarily dry out slugs. so basically there's a higher concentration of salt outside than inside the slug, so water moves out to balance it.
