OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

The Jodrell Bank Lovel radio telescope has a diameter of 76 m and typically works at a wavelengths of 80 mm. The eye is most sensitive to green light of wavelength 500 nm. a) Given that the average diameter of a human pupil is 4 mm, determibe which optical device has the superior resolving power, the nature or artifical one. Support your answer with calculations. b) How many times better is the resolution of one relative to the other? c) Does it make sense that the human eye has a better a better resolution than a huge radio telescope? Images formed by radio telescopes are usually very crude. Does the wavelength of EM radiation affect the resolution of the instrument?
