Need help with geometry, Anyone up to it?

OpenStudy (christina166):

Hello, are you taking geometry on flvs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@christina166 Nope

OpenStudy (christina166):

Oh ok just wondering because I am! But I really don't get it that much sorry.

OpenStudy (christina166):

Maybe @Hero Can help!

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

what is the question..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Two parallel lines are cut by a transversal. For each pair of corresponding angles, the measure of one angle is 42∘ less than three times the measure of the other angle. Find the measures of one pair of corresponding angles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Honestly i'm completely lost in my geometry class ..

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... so corresponding angles are equal so that means if you let x be the measure of 1 angle then 42 less than 3times the other angle 3x - 42 so set up the equation 3x - 42 = x now solve for x to get the measure of the angle x, which is also the measure of the pair of corresponding angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does x = 21?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

that's correct

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... so look at it this way |dw:1447650975883:dw|
