Select the equation of the line that passes through the point (5, 7) and is perpendicular to the line x = 4. y = 4 x = 5 y = 7 x = 7 I never really understood most of this no matter how easy it sounds, haha.

OpenStudy (jadedry):

Alright, in order to find a perpendicular line, it has to have a slope that is the negative reciprocal of the line it is perpendicular to. for x = 4, it technically has /no/ slope. But, for these lines, you can find a perpendicular line in y = n (where n is any value you choose.) However, as for y=n has to cross through the points, 5, 7 as well.
