⦁ What are the mean and the mode of the following set of data: 5, 12, 1, 5, 7

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Do you know how to find the mode and mean?

OpenStudy (jchick):

Mean, median and mode are numbers that represent a whole set of data or information. Mean, median and mode are together called the measures of central tendency. The mean is often called the average.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have the mode, but i forget what mean is

OpenStudy (liv1234):

The mode in a set of numbers is the number that repeats the most. The mean is basically what the average is.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So, which number repeats the most?

OpenStudy (jchick):

Do you know how to find an average?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the mode is 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and no i forget how to find the mean

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Then with the mean, you add all of the numbers up and divide that number by the amount of numbers you have.

OpenStudy (jchick):

Well to find an average you add up the numbers and divide by the amount of numbers you added.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So, when you add all your numbers up you get 30

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

@Liv1234 I replied to your Q in English.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

And divide 30 by 5.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

And you get 6.

OpenStudy (jchick):

I will leave this to you @Liv1234

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! i got the mean and median confused

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Mode: 5 Mean: 6

OpenStudy (liv1234):

No worries, I sometimes get them mixed up as well, but it's all a matter of practice.(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much (:

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

Think of it this way.. Mean = Average (or all numbers added together then divided by how many #'s) Median = Middle ("MED" or mid) Mode = "MO"ST
