Can someone help me? which point is a solution to the system? y>3x+8 y≤-1/2x+4 Answers: (2,5) (1,-1) (-4,2) (-2,7)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Try each point in both inequalities. The point that satisfies both inequalities is a solution to the system of inequalities.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I will use choice A as an example. Plug in (2, 5) in the first inequality: y > 3x + 8 5 > 3(2) + 8 5 > 6 + 8 5 > 14 This is false, so point (2, 5) does not satisfy the first inequality. You can stop choice A now because since it does not satisfy the first inequality, it obviously will not satisfy both inequalities. Now try the point in choice B in both inequalities, and so on.
