Andrew Lam was forced to leave his native country of Vietnam when he was only 11. His family fled Saigon, South Vietnam before the city fell to the North Vietnamese. After settling in northern California, Andrew Lam dedicated himself to learning a new language and way of life. Lam’s efforts paid off and he was able to make a career not only as a fiction writer, but also as a writer for the Pacific News Service and a commentator for National Public Radio (NPR).
