Carbon dioxide (and water) have absorptions near 7 and 15 microns that produce a greenhouse effect that warms the earth to a comfortable temperature for life as we know it. The difference from Venus is that carbon dioxide is only 0.03% of the atmosphere of the earth, whereas it is 96.5% of the atmosphere of Venus.

ok the green house effect is a prosses of traping in sunlight As you probably know, carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas Light from the Sun strikes the ground of Venus, and warms it up. The ground tries to radiate heat back into space but the carbon dioxide traps much of it around the planet keeping it so warm. This is the same thing that happens when you keep your car windows closed on a hot day. so hope that helped
