OpenStudy (smilie2015):

What is parabola?

OpenStudy (dr0zier99):

a symmetrical open plane curve formed by the intersection of a cone with a plane parallel to its side. The path of a projectile under the influence of gravity ideally follows a curve of this shape.

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

rather than ask here and get all kinds of different answers, i would google for a definition

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

a parabola is a nice curve shape, it can be concave up or down, it can the wide or thin if you plot the squares of the integers (i.e. y = x^2) you will get something like the curve above all quadratic equations ax^2 + bx + c = 0 map to parabolas y = ax^2 + bx + c

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the coefficient a, determines the width / thinness on the graph and the term c, determines the height of the vertex of the parabola on the graph
