OpenStudy (error1603):

Function h(x) is defined as (x^3) - 3(x^2)-bx+25.x-2 is one factor of h(x)-1 for what values of x will h(x) be equal to 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

h(x) = x^3 - 3x^2 - bx + 25 now, as (x-2) is a factor of p(x) = h(x) - 1 this means there exists a polynomial q(x) so that : p(x) = (x - 2) * q(x) in other words : p(2) = h(2) - 1 = 0 therefore : h(2) = 1 h(x) = 1 for x=2 ... but there may be other values !! ;-)

Thanks alot
