can someone check my work? i've done these two questions a multiple of time and i keep getting it wrong.

\[(4x)^2-(7)^2\]

\[(4x+7) (4x-7)\]

my teacher on this one told me that the i was missing but idk how i'd get am i maybe (4x+7i ) (4x-7i) but that doesn't make sense to me

What you are missing is that \((4x)^{2} - (7)^{2} = 16x^{2} - 49 \ne 16x^{2} + 49\)

You changed the problem and made up your own.

\[x^2+9x+15\xi+(-16+30)\]
\[x^2+9x+15\xi-16+30i\]

Very first step wanders off.

Look very carefully:
\((a+b)^{2} = a^{2} + 2ab + b^{2}\)

Thus:
\((x + (3+5i))^{2} = x^{2} + 2x(3+5i) + (3+5i)^{2}\)

Look at that harder and work it again from there.
