you sure that's right ?!

you posted $(x+y)^2+(x^2+2xy+y^2)$ which is $(x+y)^2 + (x+y)^2 $

no $x^{4}$ there

It was a question on my homework assignment, which is exactly why I posted it, because I wasn't sure it made sense.

As written these are not the same expression:

(x+y)^2+(x^2+2xy+y^2) = x^4+2xy^3+y^4

Consider posting a screenshot of the problem.
