Surface integral question - [Look at Attachment Below] What do I need to do in order to solve this? A fellow student thought it might have something to do with Divergence, but I am not so sure...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have done similar math to this, but then instead of a 3D sphere, It was a 2D triangle... :S

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

yes, calculate div (H) :p

Thanks - Now I know exactly what to spend my time learning! (Never got to divergence) :)

Follow-up question; How do we identify which "method" we have to use in order to solve an surface integral like this? Basically; how do we know that we have to use the Divergence theorem in order to solve this surface integral?

@IrishBoy123

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

by doing loads of questions/tutorials that vector is just silly, replicated nowhere in nature. soz, not a great answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand - I figured as much, but I had to ask - thanks again :)
